It almost feels like spring (even though it snowed a few inches in the last 24 hrs.)

Finished several paintings this weekend, but only have one picture to show at the moment. Everything else is in drying mode. Below is watercolor on unsealed ceramic. I found out it is not impossible to do this, you just have to use a lot of water to push the colors around. Probably not something I’ll do again, but I’m glad I tried it.

Not a lot of time to be crafty today, but I did manage to make a scarf in the evening hours.

Grey scarf. Worsted wool.

Oh the stories this land could tell.

Today was more jewelry inspired by all the blue hues of winter.

Todays jewelry is blue. Inspired by the many blues of winter.

Painted some echinacea and blue daisies for a table runner and placemats  today. I’m going to have a lot of sewing to do once so get home!

A new painting completed and a change of scenery.

This used to be my playground.

Made some more macrame bracelets while having my morning coffee. Spent the rest of the morning doing some yard work. Had to keep reminding myself that spring is coming even though everything is still covered in snow.

Anyone who has ever done some sewing has fought with tension a time or two. Today was that day. So after taking my machine apart, cleaning it and resetting the tension, I decided I was done working with it for now. Quilting can wait. Instead, I did some fun knot tying.

More watercolor paintings today. These are bound to become placemats. I love how they turned out except for the blackhole. It will be neat to see the finished product.

Painted a humming bird today. I think I'm getting better at this. Aside from that I also started quilting the other birds and designed two new projects.

Made some more water color paintings on fabric today. This is such a cool technique where the paint is colored on, then wetted to act like normal water colors. Because there is an ink medium in the paint, it will be permanent on the fabric once it is dried. I can not wait to see what they look like once they are quilted.

I'm going to start adding some of my recipes to this blog. I don't usually document what I cook, but that makes it pretty hard when it comes to making things again.

Today's soup: 4 mushrooms, 4 carrots, 4 stalks of celery, 1 zucchini: all diced. 8 cups of water. A handful* each of oregano, sage and thyme: crumbled. Place all of the above in a large pot. Simmer or boil until vegetables are soft. Immersion blend until vegetables are in smaller pieces. Add in 1/2 cup instant mashed potatoes to thicken. 8 servings of approx 50 calories each. It was definitely tasty. Next time I'll probably toss in some shrimp at the end too. (*Note: I'm using whole dried herbs from my garden, its probably about 2-3 Tbsp each of dried ground seasoning.)

Speaking of gardens... Delivery! 14,800 seeds arrived last night! It may be snowy and white outside, but spring is on my mind. Garden planning is in full swing!

Another winter storm is rolling through tonight with a few inches of snow expected by morning.

Fabric painting was the name of the game today. I painted this Nuthatch using watercolors on cotton. We have a lot of these little guys on our feeders this winter. It is part of a larger project that will be posted over the coming weeks.

Leo the light holder! We all have that one helpful pet, right?

Last night's super bright Wolf Moon. It was almost like daylight.

This is a variation of the Cascading Diamonds quilt that I completed today. I say completed, but is anything ever actually complete? It is quilted and bound, but I may go back in at a later date to add some decorative quilting. I love the fun backing on the quilt too! This is perfect to keep warm while star gazing.

Fun flannel outer space backing.

The sky is on fire for a few minutes every morning.  These pictures don't do it justice.

Added the flowers and bow to finish the sign once it dried over night. Nothing about this sign is what I originally envisioned and somehow I like it better because of that.

Had some paper mache fun making a box and a sign. Adding the letting gave it a nice touch too. The sign is still wet and will probably get some flowers or a bow on it tomorrow.

Looks like it was a nice day up on the ski hill.
