Todays craft was a quilted trivet. It’s a fun way to add a pop of color to the room while also protecting the counters.

Quilted trivet, Cotton.

We lost a foot of snow with all the recent rain.

It poured rain today. Like west coast meets Pineapple Express type rain. So all the snow roads are melting out and turning slushy. It was a great day to plow.

Graphite on paper.

Slushy much?

Merry Christmas!

I’m having a white Christmas!

Saturday, December 24, 2022

When kids rides fall though but they still want to come home for Christmas, of course you go pick them up. Eighteen hours of driving later, through rain, snow, ice, avalanches and multiple mountain passes, we are home for the holidays!

Somedays living here is like the living on the last frontier. It was -21F this morning. The power went out, and therefore so did our water. The generator wouldn’t start because of the cold. Once we finally got the power back on, the well pump wouldn’t turn back on because of the cold. So ya, know… you think outside the box, do what you can and things generally will turn out alright. Today that may or may not have involved using hair dryer in the snow to warm up control panels.

Graphite on paper.

Where are the snow shoes? That’s at least 3’ deep.

Once upon a time I said, “I don’t want a covered deck. It will ruin my view.” Now on grey days, when the mountain is not out and I get to manually clear the deck after getting 16” of snow in 24hrs, I have a whole new appreciation for that view. To be fair, I let this sit a week before clearing it so I can make ice blocks out of it for my igloo pile. We do have winter fun here after all.

Acrylic on rock.

Meh. Shoveling it is.

I spent many years by the water and will always love the look of sea glass.

Necklace, bracelet, earrings. Glass beads.

The highway home.

Wednesday, December 7, 2022

Today we have sea glass jewelry and new recycling bins. Loving the labels I made for them! True story: Our county does not pick up recycling and what recycling they offer at the transfer station is limited. So, we opt to sort and save it, then drive it into the city for recycling when we go shopping. Why? Because the earth is the only home we have.

Necklace, bracelet, earrings. Glass beads.
