Harvested some chive flowers this morning and made chive vinegar with them. It will turn a pretty pinkish purple in a few days.

Weeded the square today. Laid cardboard and landscape fabric in the center of the square. Also dug the hole and placed the reservoir basin for the upcoming fountain. Someday it will be pretty, but honestly it’ll always probably be “in progress” in someway.

Made it to the bottom of what used to be the largest falls in the world. Supposedly. I mean it’s a big world out there, but with a 3.5 mile width and a several hundred foot drop, it was still pretty impressive even when dry.

Yesterday I mentioned hoping to find the petroglyphs. Today it was pretty obvious that was going to wait until a cooler month when the rattlesnakes aren’t out. So we enjoyed exploring the lakes, the caves and the history of the area instead. The caves in the drawing I call the eyeball caves.

Completed the 2023 garden plans. Got all these seeds in dirt today: heatwave blend lettuce, senposai hybrid Asian greens, Selvatica arugula, lacinato (dinosaur) kale, red Russian kale, parsley, cilantro, early sungrow hybrid sweet corn, lazy housewife pole beans, chives, oregano, nasturtiums, forget me nots, snapdragons, evening sun sunflowers, Chianti hybrid sunflowers and borage. Also planted the delphiniums and Russell lupine starts. So now everything, everything is sown and growing and happy. (Okay minor detail is that the kale starts will need to be transplanted at some point after the fountain is finished but whatever, I haven’t started that project yet so there’s at least a few week break.)

The oregano had its first harvest and after drying there was just over a gallon of herbs put up. Since it was a somewhat kitchen day, banana bread was also made with all the ripe bananas.

And last but not least, it’s been a while since I’ve posted a lot of pictures so here they are… Enjoy!

The truck bed camper now has blackout curtains. I made them from vinyl lined linen and attached them with Velcro. We’ll see how they do. Also, thunder, lightning, rain, sunshine… it’s been a fun weather day.
