I left some primed metal pieces to dry in the driveway. I thought they were out of the way. Amazon ran right over them. Those turkeys. Painting fail.

Not the artwork I was hoping for.

Not these turkeys.

Making stickers. Yes, I sing that to the tune of Making Christmas from The Night Before Christmas. Also everything is flooding right now, and then freezing. How fun.

Vinyl stickers.

It’s been kinda wet and chilly.

The great cotton seedling experiment is underway. In it are ungerminated lettuce seeds, paper towel germinated seeds for lettuce and tomatoes, and germinated lettuce seeds transferred from the hydroponic unit. Speaking of which, the hydroponic unit is going well with lettuce and tomato’s starting to grow already.

Right. So. I’ve been all about learning hydroponics as I want to grow lettuce indoors during the winter. My husband found a great deal on this desk version which will give us something to play with until the main version is ready. How fun!

Anyone want to shovel the deck?

The 2025 Garden Plan is finished. The largest projects this year are setting up new irrigation, hydroponics, improving soil conditions in the main garden and getting the observatory garden up and going. Also some rock hard scapes to improve fire protection in select areas.

There is about a foot of fresh snow outside, so it’s a perfect day to start the next quilt. The first few steps are cut out.

Snow storm in progress! December's flowers are narcissus and holly. Pretty sure we plowed the driveway three or four times so far this weekend.

This for sure has not been an easy week, so it was nice to leave work a few hours early to attend a Master Gardener event. Nice to see everyone for sure.

Even though I am a gardener and fully believe in the many benefits of growing and storing your own food, I wouldn't really consider myself a "prep-er". So this whole storing extra containers of 5 gallon food is a first for me. (I didn't even do this during the Covid years.) Luckily, they are foods which are already staples in my house, so its more like I'm buying them in bulk than anything else. Am I normalizing weird behavior? Maybe. Whatever. This is the last container and look at that pretty label I made for it. Also, in case you are wondering, yes, these are food safe containers with air tight spin off lids.

This year of gardening will be defined by experiments and trying new things. Since I run out of room when starting seeds, I thought I'd give winter sowing a try. I don't have milk jugs butI have quite a lot of other plastics to give it a try with.

Here is what I planted today: Delphinium, Snapdragon, Alyssum, Shasta daisy, Rudbeckia, Echinacea, Cosmos, Asclepias, Marigold, Chamomile, Nasturtiums, Lavendar, Thyme, Chives, Dill, Bergamont

Here's hoping it turns out well...

Chilling outside in the cold.

Winter weather is finally coming.

Not really loving the state of the world. Figured it wouldn't hurt to have some food stores. And of course it needed a label!
